Hope to the hopeless

23 January 2020

The news came to me as a mere lie, that For a Change would build a house for me. The previous life I had always been busy doing maintenance on my house. Whenever rain season came, I was forced to work out on my house. The house had been leaking and when the rains came at midnight, my family and me were busy to transfer our stuff from one room to another room, leaving us sleepless over the whole night. Not by wish, but because the house always became wet by rainy weather. This had been so throughout and it was bringing a shame on me as a husband. Sometimes I could feel like I don’t handle my responsibilities well as the head of the family. The hectic moment was one Saturday when there was a heavy storm and washed my whole roof away. I was very much devastated, failing what to do because of the heavy rains. Everyone was wet and we ended up standing under the tree waiting for the rains to stop. It rained so much which went up to so many hours. I was not having possibilities of any money. When I heard the news that organisation For a Change would like to build a house for me, it felt like a joke. I knelt down and prayed to God to surpass this idea of the organisation to come true. The following morning when I saw the truck bringing building materials, left me with agape, I was failing to talk. I realized that God is there for His people. Every night when I am in the new house I thank God. I feel like I am living in town because of the house I have. God who knows how to bless, should keep on blessing the organisation for reaching out to a per person like me. People could not imagine that a poor man like me can have such a beautiful house, but it has become true!
