Davie: a mother who never stops hoping

Sometimes, the smallest changes can make a world of difference.

Davie is six years old and lives with his parents and sister in a small house built by For a Change. There have been concerns about his health since birth. He did not cry when he was born and, as a result, has cerebral palsy. He also struggles with malnutrition and various health problems. He is often ill and regularly spends time in hospital.

For his mother, this means a daily life filled with worry. She spends a great deal of time caring for Davie, which makes it difficult for her to manage household chores. The family also faces financial challenges. Yet she continues to be there for her son, day after day.

A Journey with Ups and Downs

As Davie grows older, her worries increase, and his mother no longer knows what to do. Then someone tells her about the work of For a Change. And so Davie and his mother find their way to our centre.

His mother explains that she never truly dared to hope that Davie would one day receive support in so many different ways. The support he receives at For a Change is bringing visible changes to Davie's life and that of his family.

Today, Davie eats better than before and is ill less often. His family is delighted with the progress he is making. For his mother, these are meaningful changes, especially because she knows how much worry they have experienced in the past.

She describes their journey as one with ups and downs, but she is grateful for the support they receive. It makes life easier for her and her family.

His Mother's Dreams

Davie's mother has a beautiful dream for her son: that one day he will be able to talk and walk.

As Davie grows, his needs change too. His mother is therefore asking for an adapted wheelchair, as it is becoming increasingly difficult to carry him. It is an important request to ensure that Davie receives the support he needs as he grows.

His development continues, one step at a time. And behind every step is a mother who continues to hope for new possibilities for her child.
