A new school year
26 September 2025
There is something special about the start of a new school year in our village. The tiny big hugs, the running, the noise, the singing, the non-stop high fives, the repeated greetings throughout the day, the fresh uniforms, eager faces, and a renewed sense of purpose. All these make the start of a new term to always be special.
We have opened our arms to brand new nursery learners, some wearing uniforms for their very first time. Most who are not used to early mornings and new environments. As teachers, we are ready and fully braced for the loud cries and joy and laughter this all brings.
While the little ones begin their journey, another important chapter is unfolding at the end of the school. For the first time in our school’s history, we have a group of Standard 8 learners preparing to sit for the government’s Primary School Leaving Certificate of Education (PSLCE) exams. This is a big moment not only for the learners, but for our whole community. Because these exams are the stepping stone into secondary school education. We know how much this means. That is why we have made it a priority this year to give our Standard 8 learners every opportunity to succeed. From extra study sessions to one-on-one support and encouragement from teachers, we are committed to seeing a high percentage of passes in our first ever PSLCE cohort.
As I write this, I’m overwhelmed with expectation about how this year will end. We have a team of dedicated staff that will make sure all the necessary materials and resources are available for the amazing journey we have ahead of us.
And thank you for being a part of this oncoming journey. Whether you are a supporter or a friend from afar; your encouragement makes a real difference.
