A light in turbulent times

5 August 2020

We are in turbulent times. For the work in Kwanjana, I have seen a lot of things which are really changing, because of the Corona pandemic. Despite all things there are developments. It was a hectic period where projects could not just be handled in any way. It was really so difficult. But as we moved through we took a challenge to build a kitchen, a day-care centre. It was not easy in the period of corona, with all the situations. For the country by that time we did not have a lot of cases yet. There was a directive from the government that the lockdown could follow. Public schools and offices were commanded to close in preparedness of the corona. It happened that a lot of public schools and private institutions were closed. It even didn’t spare the For a Change Foundation. We closed our school and we even closed our programs, as you probably know.

A month later the situation was a bit more worse, but not too much. Some people were infected and some died. We took a challenge to build a kitchen in that period. From the beginning of everything we came together as a team and made a decision. It made us to take the challenge to build the day-care centre. The work started, moving up and down. For the period of 2 months we saw much development, whereby the building was elected. Developments have been moving. We even came to the moment of drilling the borehole. It was so difficult. At 60 meters the water was not found. They even dumped one place after drilling about 54 meters. They went to another side and drilled up to 54 meters but water was not found. That gave much stress and I prayed to God to give the guidance. I even prayed with the workers together, despite they were not all Christians. To the depth of 60 meter some water was found. Getting to 90 meter they found fresh water. That was another testimony, because I prayed to God to give us this victory to see water on the side. How everything has been moving by the centre it is really a testimony and I have seen the power of God. I’m glad that even in this project we may be a light to the world, a light in Malawi, a light in turbulent times of corona.
