A day in Kwanjana

18 October 2019

The day starts early. I am preparing myself to go to Kwanjana. I am looking forwards to seeing everybody again. I am curious how the playing garden looks like and how all the children are doing.

After 10 weeks of staying in the Netherlands, I am back on African ground again. Just after returning, the difference between the Netherlands and Malawi is huge. I am happy and grateful that we, by means of the foundation, are able to connect those two different worlds. It was good to meet the board, sponsors and volunteers again and to talk about the work together.

We enjoyed the stay in the Netherlands. It was good to lay down the work for a while and to be busy with other things. We have seen the great works of God and I experience more and more that the only way we can do this work, is in dependency on Him. God gives exactly what we need, every time again!

Now, the work in Kwanjana waits again. The building of the houses continues. The children are going to school. Cynthia and Flora, our teachers, are teaching. The mothers are cooking porridge and while this is all busy, I am entering Kwanjana by car. I am passing by a family that just received a new home. Enthousiastic, happy people are waving at me. I am driving past the primary school. The children are calling happily: 'a-For a Change!'. When I reach the Centre, somebody is coming to me to carry my bag. I am watching the classroom for a short time. The children are practicing the alphabeth.

When I am joining the mothers who are cooking, I visit one of the new sponsorchildren. The child is by far too young to go to school, but the situation was so hopeless. We had to do something. I am welcoming them and the mother is so thankful. May God bless you, she says. That is also what I want to share with you, reader. Thank you for your involvement and commitment. May God bless you! By means of the work, that we may do together, we can give people hope. Only because of Him and with Him! May God bless you, so we can be a blessing together, for the glory of His name.

At the end of the day, I am driving home again. It was good to be back! Good to meet the children, to sing together. It was good to help the mothers with the cooking of the rice. It was good to think about the quality and possible improvements of the education, together with the teachers. It was good to be in Kwanjana!
